Hello, I’m Dan Laird and it’s an honor to serve as the President of the Florida Park Service Ranger Association and follow in the path of many great leaders of our organization.
I started my career as an OPS employee with the District 5 Construction Crew in 1997. In 1998, I promoted to the Maintenance Mechanic at Lloyd Beach and from there promoted to Assistant Park Manager at Oleta River for a couple of years. I finished my FPS career as the Park Manager of Henderson Beach and Rocky Bayou State Parks. My children have grown up in Florida State Parks and we have all established some great lifelong friends and that’s what the Ranger Association is all about, friends and family.
We all know the challenges of working in parks and the rewards as well. It’s been an honor to serve with everyone in the Park Service. And it’s an honor to continue to serve those members of our FPS family who are in need through the James Cook Relief Fund.
I hope you will join me as a member of our family and carry on this great tradition of Service, Family and Tradition, as we remember our heritage and those who have come before us and paved the way.
Dan Laird, President
